Bit.Trip Beat Is A Blast Of 80′s Game Design

By Spencer . January 13, 2009 . 6:25pm

Aksys has a new WiiWare game and it doesn’t have anything do with Arc System Works. Bit.Trip Beat is developed by US located Gaijin Games. At a first glance Bit.Trip Beat looks like Pong 2.0. You control a paddle and the goal of the game is to repel dots. When you deflect a bit it makes a beat so in a Rez-like way you contribute to the soundtrack. As seen in this video the bit patterns get more complicated and require precise paddle placement when trying to deflect three bits in a row.

Aksys don’t you have Cave SHMUPS to localize? Ketsui DS in particular?

    Gaijin Games eh? *shakes head*

Also what happened to Gaijin Works? Or Vic Ireland for that matter?

I just checked out the video. I’ve been lazy getting my Wiiware thing up and going, but this looks WAY up my alley.
Probably one of few game titles that sums up the game as is!

Gaijinworks is supposed to announce a title or two soon due for Summer release, according to 1UP.

And this looks incredibly fun and exactly the kind of Wiiware game I want to play.

Though Aksys has been very focused on Wiiware lately, I want to see some more full retail titles from them.
