Dragonball Movie Game Has Dragonball Movie Graphics

Dragonball Movie Game Has Dragonball Movie Graphics Wondering what Namco Bandai’s Dragonball movie game looks like? Wonder no more! The first batch of screenshots from Dragonball: Evolution shows us what Master Roshi looks like. He isn’t cel-shaded. He looks nothing like the anime. He’s really Chow Yun-Fat. Dragonball: Evolution stuck with the look of the movie giving us low resolution polygon models of the actors and actress from Fox’s movie which comes out this April.

If you can look past the graphical discord Dragonball: Evolution looks like any other Namco Bandai developed Dragonball game. Like the Dragonball Z: Shin Budokai series on the PSP you can play through a story mode (this one has Goku Justin Chatwin versus Piccolo), take on missions, and accept online challenges from Network battles. Minus character customization Namco Bandai is covering the most basic features required for a Dragonball game.

I’m still trying to get past the graphical discord.

why is this happening? Keanu Reeves stars as Spike in the upcoming live-action Cowboy Bebop film, now this. Oh, well.

Surprised they didn’t go the Street Fighter franchise route.
    Dragonball: The Movie: The Game!

  • Rune

The fact that they are so desperate to make the movie legit with its own crappy fighter is just another sign that the movie in general is going to be a huge flop in my opinion.

  • QBasic

Reminds me of the very first Virtua Fighter…

    • JeremyR

Heh, I was thinking the very same thing

  • jake

Looks like Namco modded Tekken with a DBZ skin, not kidding.

  • MadMirko

Good stuff to show someone arguing that realistic graphics are inherently better. It’s mature, you know?

  • maxchain

Kinda plain-looking, but this is probably about as good as the movie deserves. Who knows? Maybe they’ll gank a solid engine from one of the past DBZ games (wouldn’t surprise me, what with everything happening so close to the release date). It’d at least play well, if nothing else.

  • Rciwws

Does Toriyama know whats going on here?

    • mag4

He knows, but he’s too busy swimming in a pool of Yen to give a shit..

  • daizyujin

So is this game exclusive to the PSP? That is kind of strange for a licensed title. Most of them anymore are on everything and if they skip any platform, it is usually the PSP.

    • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

Yeah it’s PSP exclusive unless Namco Bandai is going to surprise us by announcing it for another console.

  • Aoshi00

The realistic mugshots look like those of Mortal Combat w/ the bad ass stares :)

I still can’t get over the idea Chow Yun-Fat plays Roshi, he was so cool back in the 80′s in all those John Woo films as a gun-slinger, very weird indeed.. but then again he was the Singaporean pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean. And you think nothing would be worse than Jean Claude Van Damme’s Guile. This is too campy.

    GOTY 09!!!!

  • Freeloader

Please someone save the Dragon Ball Franchise. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Strike_Man

This game is hardly alone, as other games have used the PSP as a “testing ground” of sorts for releases before, such as Warner’s 300 videogame.

It’s a quick way of getting a title out there to see if a full budget version is financially feasible.

    • Strike_Man

      *smacks face*

That was supposed to be a reply to daizyujin’s comment.

  • jj984jj

Kill it! Kill it with fire!
