Metroid Prime Morphs Into A Wii Game In February

By Spencer . January 19, 2009 . 7:47pm

image Nintendo’s plan in Japan is to release at least one Play on Wii game every month. Mario Power Tennis is January’s game. After rounds of motion controlled Mario tennis Nintendo is putting Metroid Prime on the market. Japan is scheduled to get Wii de Asobu Metroid Prime on February 19 according to Nintendo’s updated release February calendar.

Nintendo of America has not announced a date for Play on Wii Metroid Prime, but we’ll get this game and the Wii-make of Metroid Prime 2 for sure. In the early summer, perhaps? It looks like there is a three month gap between regions.

  • I’m…really curious as to whether Retro Studios worked on the Play on Wii Metroid Prime or if it was done at one of Nintendo’s Japanese divisions. I’m guessing it was Retro (why wouldn’t it be?).

So then…why is Japan getting this before us? I love Pikmin and all, but I really hope they aren’t waiting to exhaust every other Gamecube remake they have in the works and give us the Metroids at the end of the year.

  • Although this is probably common knowledge by now, I just found out the other day that the remakes are priced at 30$. Completely acceptable IMHO, and I’ll definitely get the Metroid Prime wiimake on day 1!!!

  • Metroid Prime is perhaps one of the best designed games of last generation, and I’d gladly buy it again.

The real question remains, though– will the Wii controls be fluid enough? I don’t much see the point of buying it again if it’s practically the same game with crappy motion and point controls.

I would probably go for Metroid Prime 2 though, since I don’t have it yet.

      • Oh, definitely. If the controls are crap, I won’t buy it. However, judging from the impressions people had of Metroid Prime 2 Wii demo (an early proof of concept), I have faith that they’ll be good.

I am waiting for Wind Waker with extra content hopefully.

*sigh*, this is like a dream come true. I can’t wait to play all the Primes back to back (again).

Wow, so soon! And if Nintendo’s planning a Wiimake a month, I wonder what other games they have in store?

*crosses fingers for Luigi’s Mansion and F-Zero GX*

Nintendo needs to cut this shit out.
