Marvelous Mystery Game Is For PSP And Not Just For Japan

yuu30 One day before Marvelous’ countdown clock ends Famitsu spills the beans. The game it’s leading up to is Yuusha 30, a PSP action game with four game play modes. You control classes like a hero, princess, and a knight only for thirty seconds each round and each class has a different mini-game.

Hero mode is a 2D side scroller with sprite graphics while princess mode plays like a vertical shooter. The time controlling each character is brief, but Marvelous squeezed in RPG mechanics like leveling up and field events in Yuusha 30.

In hindsight the tricky clock gave a huge clue. It resets every thirty seconds. Also, we sort of new about the game before Famitsu told us! Way, way back at Tokyo Game Show Rising Star Games (aka Marvelous Europe) said they were releasing a little title called Hero for 30sec in 2009/10. If Rising Star is publishing it you can count on two things 1.) it’s not going to be in Japanese in Europe and 2.) Marvelous USA or another third party publisher will release this in North America.

I’m a little confused, is it like a RPG Warioware? Either way I’m interested because it’s a quirky concept. ^_^

I guess it can be compared to WarioWare since it’s played in short bursts, but there are only four modes mentioned in the article.

What happens when time runs out? If time limits aren’t too punishing, then I can go for it.

I guess you get to replay the mission? It sounds like the 30 second time limits are absolute between rounds though.

I think I get that. If its like an RPG fight, but instead of just choosing menus you play those segments for 30 seconds then the next character for 30 seconds, I think it can work well. Will keep an eye on it!

whaaaaaaat? *sad* I always thought the triforce in there meant Zelda or something.

Oh well, hope it is good.

For some reason it reminds me a bit of that ROM CHECK FAIL game where the level and character would change every few seconds.

I was hoping this would be a Wii game considering MMV’s massive Wii support. :(

I think this would make a nice fit for WiiWare, even with the graphics remaining pretty much the same, it’s not like WiiWare is a stranger to 2D games. :P

Plus it seems rather short, so it’s best with a tiny price tag. Of course they could retail it for $9.99 but… I doubt it’ll be that cheap on the PSP anyway. :P

What developer is working on this?
