More Guilty Gear Brawls In Springtime

By Spencer . January 27, 2009 . 1:45pm

ggax Aksys is bringing Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus over here this spring on three consoles. Wait, three consoles?

Originally, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus was a PlayStation 2 game and a fix for the buggy mess Japan got. Then it got ported to the PSP with ad-hoc play. In North America you can match Justice against Kliff on the Wii too.

Returning combatants are nice and all, but why should Guilty Gear fans buy a game previously released in 2007? Story mode. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus covers the back stories for the 25 playable characters with fully voiced cutscenes. Find out more about “That Man” (that’s really his name) here. Speaking of features it looks like the 3 on 3 tag battle introduced in the PSP version is going to be in all versions of Aksys’ release. Apologies to anyone who imported the PS2 game from Japan.

  • Some questions: If I get this (for the Wii) I don’t need the previous one, right? And I’m hoping/guessing this also includes Classic Controller support?

    • Since this game is rebalanced and has story modes you probably don’t need the Wii one. If I had to guess the Wii one will have Classic Controller support. The whole thing is a mystery though since a Wii version was never released in Japan.

Sweet, another fighting game that can make use of the Wii fighting stick. SInce the first GGXX AC had classic controller support, there’s no reason not for this to as well. Unless Aksys decides to mess this one up.

I was so angry about Japan getting story mode while we got nothing. I imported the psp version though and enjoyed some epic 3 on 3 tag battles, unfortunately my non existent japanese language skills did not allow me to enjoy the epic story. Having played (and own) Guilty Gear psx, and Guilty Gear XX (both having story modes), i’d gladly rebuy the game just to find out more about the GG storyline.

This is a must buy for GG fans. If only they could have ported this on the ps3 or 360, I want online battle.

psp and wii have the means to have online battles, and developers should feel as obliged to do so in them as the ones you mention. (well and PS2 slims do too, although I’d say most people never used it)

sorry i have no interest in using xlink kai. I want official online battle.

        • lostinblue

hm? there are online PSP games; not just “tunneled” ad hoc games via xlink kai thingy (famous because of Monster Hunter Portable)

This said, this game won’t have online, but what I’m saying is… it could have online just the same, no need to port it to do that, and it’s a shame they apparently only get the urge to implement it on those you mentioned (same as saying there is no reason to do that separation, other than a double standard).

Thanks Spencer. Glad to see somebody saw that was a joke. Seriously, I own more versions of Street Fighter 2 than I care to count.

PHEW!!! and I was about to finally give in and buy Accent Core…YESTERDAY!!!!! Thanks for the announcement Spencer, I appreciate in more ways than you can probably imagine.

  • EdgeKun

Gah. Yet another Guilty Gear game I’ll have to own 2 or more copies of. -.- Oh well, I perfer it getting ported and more people exposed than only the Japanese having fun with it. =)
