Catch A Port Of Wipeout Pulse On PS2

wipeoutp This news originally came out as a rumor, but the PlayStation 2 port of Wipeout Pulse is almost palpable. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has yet to announce it, but the USK (Germany’s ESRB equivalent) knows a thing or two about it. Recently, they rated it confirming that a Wipeout Pulse port is in development and perhaps on deck for a release soon.

Wipeout Pulse was originally released as a PSP game with online play as one of the main highlights. Downloadable expansion packs for Wipeout Pulse were also sold over the PlayStation Store. Since the PlayStation 2 version hasn’t been given a formal unveiling we don’t know if either of these features will carry over on the PS2.

If Sony is going to continue porting PSP games to the PlayStation 2 they mind as well shoot for some of the creative ones like Patapon. More people should have a chance to play Patapon.

  • I would actually like to see Crisis Core and Chains of Olympus ported over to PS2. I’m sure a lot of people who don’t own PSPs would.

    Then again, both those are system sellers and I can’t see Sony doing anything (or authorizing anyone) to detract from the PSP’s sales.

    • +1 for CC port… but Dissidia would take the cake!!!
      But as far as I know, Square’s never done a PSP -> PS2 port…
      In fact this would make for an interesting list. I can only think of Sony and Konami (SH). It’s not like there were that many.

      I have a PSP and still I’d rather play them like that, portable version is good and all but… the lack of AA on a LCD you’re supposed to play so close… gah, PS2 all the way.

      That and Dissidia, does anyone like to play fighters on the PSP? I’m not interested in the game but… I know fighters on the PSP… I mean it just seems way too fragile for that.

  • I would certainly like to see some PSP titles on PS2 (even though the PSP slim with it’s video-out kinda makes it stupid) because I’m a big PS2 gamer/collector/fan.

    Patapon, Loco roco, Chains of Olympus, FFTactics: War of the Lions (now THAT would rock) and some other titles are perfect for the console format and is bound to get some sales because let’s face it, PSP isn’t nearly as popular and widespread as PS2.

  • Patapon, Loco Roco, FFTactics. I’d buy all these games if Sony ported them over. Wipeout not so much.
