Bubble Bobble Plus Out On WiiWare Next Week

By Spencer . February 5, 2009 . 10:50pm

image Wow, that was fast! Shortly after it was announced Bubble Bobble Wii is getting released. Japanese Wii owners can download it on February 10. Taito packed Bubble Bobble Wii with 200 maps (100 original, 100 in arrange mode, and two difficulties make 400 stages), four player support (apparently Bub and Bob were quadruplets), and online rankings for 800 Wii Points ($8).

Beat those and you can test your skills on two expert map packs that Taito will happily sell you for 200 Wii Points ($2) apiece. Each pack has 50 more stages and a single boss to fight. Can you figure out who they are from the pictures?

Nothing official has been said about an international release, but I’m confident one is coming. We should see Bubble Bobble Wii domestically under the name Bubble Bobble Plus sometime in the future.

Doesn’t it come standard with 400 levels?

    • Yeah it does. 200 maps x 2 difficulty levels = 400 stages. I updated the post to better reflect that.

Hooray, Bubble Bobble is one of my all-time fav games, so I’ll be looking forward to this. Thanks for the coverage!

Too bad it’s only coming out Feb 10 in Japan, since that’s my bday.

Definitely my most wanted WiiWare game, along with Gradius Rebirth.

Glad to see bosses show up, although I’m hoping there are more to appear perhaps even similar to the frequency and cameo appeal of those in Bubble Symphony. First boss in the images is seems to be Skel-Monsta/Baron Von Blubba (would be cool to get him back at him), I can’t seem to identify the other one…
