Hudson Wants To Know Which Virtual Console Games You Want A few e-mails got sent over to us (thanks everyone!!) about Hudson dropping Virtual Console support in North America to focus on WiiWare. Don’t worry they aren’t giving up on releasing classics! We asked Mike Pepe, Director of Marketing, about the rumor. Here’s what he had to say:

 

“Although WiiWare has been very successful for Hudson we have every intention to continue supporting Virtual Console.  We are very pleased with the service and are happy to make available products that have been fan favorites in the past.  Creating new games on WiiWare and releasing past ones on VC are two separate initiatives that we intend to support.”

 

Pepe also asked which Hudson games we would like to see on the Virtual Console and offered to pass over the favorites to the development teams in Japan. Post suggestions in the comments! We’re going to compile a list and send it to Hudson next week.

 

I guess I’ll start with Faxanadu, but that’s probably a licensing pipe dream so I’ll go with the unreleased Adventure Island 4.

    All I want is Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom. It’s an awesome point and click adventure in the same style as Shadowgate. And also bring Dracula X. Those two games alone would make me very happy.

    It just occured to me: Wasnt Hudson the ones who made one of my favourite under-appreciated NES games?

    I’d love to see Felix The Cat for the NES. Though, I’m sure character rights and such would make it unlikely to ever happen.

    Hello, i’m a moderator at several Mario Party based forums and they have been clamoring for the releases of 1, 2 and 3 on the Virtual Console. It would be great if you released them :)

    These are just the games that 1) either already have translations or don’t need them, and 2) I feel highly, highly confident that I would buy. For point 1, I get the feeling that I’d love Popful Mail to death from looking at it, but it’s probably too dialogue-heavy to put up. :( Same with Ys IV. For point 2, there are others I’d also like to see and would definitely consider buying, such as the other Adventure Island games, Ys III, or Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth, but when it comes down to the wire Hudson probably wants to know what I’d certainly pay for.

    Those are only the games that 1) either already have a translation or don’t look like they depend on understanding the text (going by what I can see on YouTube), and 2) I feel highly confident I would buy.

      Dracula X: Rondo of Blood and Ys III are definites, Dai Makaimura/Ghouls & Ghosts for the SuperGrafx would be cool since it’s such an obscure port, and Darius Plus since Darius games are so much fun!

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring Bomberman64 and the Mario Partys! Honestly Hudson makes great games so they ALL should make it to the VC sooner or later( W/Bomberman64 and the MPs sooner since the VC is in DIRE need of more N64 game support

    It is probably my most wanted game ever.

    I wish they would put the Turbo Graphics Version of Pac-Land up, not sure if this goes under Hudson, but would still be great. Also Legendary Axe and the entire Advenuter Island series would be great to see.

    Since you happen to be responsible for one of those two games, why not give us what we’ve been kicking and screaming about since it was released in Japan nearly an entire year ago, huh? -_^

    Mario Party 1,2,&3 especially 3…but all of them are great. Of Hudson will do the world a favor by releasing them, I’d be unbelevable happy and actually if they do get released, every n64 game I owned would be on the virtual console except pokemon stadium 1&2, super smash bros, and DK64 but those aren’t up to Hudson so please Hudson release these games.
