Dissidia: Final Fantasy Gets Trading Arts

Square Enix knows how to profit from character goods. That’s why they took hero designs from Dissidia: Final Fantasy and made them into trading arts figures. Unlike Square Enix’s other trading arts toys these aren’t minuscule statues. Each pre-painted figure is around 5″ tall and goes for about $13 depending where you import them.

The downside about trading arts is you don’t know which character you’re going to get until you open the box. You might get Cloud Strife on the first try. You might not. Square Enix USA sells trading arts figures out without the randomness, but often cut one figure out of the line up. Hmm… out of these five Zidane might be the Japan-only figure.

  • If Zidane is Japan-only, I’m cool with that. Wasn’t my fave FF, anyway. Ahh, I remember collecting the “painted” versions of all the Valkyrie Profile figures when they came out. Those things are nice. Perhaps these will be, too.

I feel the opposite, Final Fantasy IX was my favorite Final Fantasy out of the characters displayed above. Though I wouldn’t be devastated if we didn’t get him cuz I’m not big into the Trading Arts

aaaAnime, an official SE distributor, is taking pre-orders for Squall, Tidus, Cloud, and Zidane, indicating that the Warrior of Light will be the cut one.

    • Ah! Thanks for the info. Sort of funny that he’s out since the Warrior of Light is like the Dissidia: Final Fantasy icon character.

Actually I’m kind of bummed they didn’t make Zidane as tall as the other guys in Dissidia, based more on the original Amano design, he’s still half SD here.. I want him and Tidus the most.

BTW Spence, is it just me or your page layout out is really screwed up, or disqus, often times half of the page is blackened or out of place.

    • Thanks for the info. I…. don’t know? What browser are you using? Does it happen often? I haven’t encountered the problem with Firefox, IE or Chrome.

      • Aoshi00

Guess it’s just me then… I recall another reader saying something like that before.. I’ve been using Firefox all this time and it seems to happens occasionally for the past couple of weeks. It’s not biggie, I’ll see the same thing comes up again and then check the same page w/ my laptop.

They really should have put Terra in there. The line’s even more of a sausage fest than Dissida itself was…
