Phantom Brave, Wii Meet Again

By Spencer . February 17, 2009 . 4:25pm

pbraveNIS America confirmed what we all suspected — they are bringing the Wii version of Phantom Brave here. The only thing that might catch you off guard is how soon the game is coming. Phantom Brave gets released in Japan on March 12. Phantom Brave: We Meet Again arrives in North America three months later in June.

Since this is a PS2 to Wii port Phantom Brave: We Meet Again is mostly the same game. There are some new features like a redesigned user interface, new story chapters, extra characters, and more skills/items for returning players. I’m still not sure if this is enough stuff to tempt people to give Phantom Brave a second go, though.

For NISA standards, its soon! Three months after the Japanese release is very nice these days.

I can’t imagine this will sell, unless Wii fans are really desperate and don’t own a PS2. $20, $30 at most, would have been a fairer price, too.

Doesn’t it also have a new game+ like the japanese greatest hits PS2 rerelease?

As much as I want RPGs on the Wii from Nippon Ichi, I doubt I’ll buy this game when my old PS2 copy is still in good use. >_>; These games last a very long time for me in value.

Never bought Phantom Brave on PS2, so I’ll be picking up this version for sure!

Not worth it unless it’s $30 or less.

I put over 100 hours into the original Phantom Brave, but even I have a bit of trouble justifying buying a game I already own all over again, with no real graphical upgrades and extra content that (so far) seems like it would be five bucks as DLC. I love Nippon Ichi America so much that it hurts sometimes, and this is one of those times. I hope they make a killing and the Wii release exposes the game to people who didn’t check it out the first time around, but I can’t spend money on a game I already own these days.

I’ve played the PS2 one too much and there doesn’t seem to be enough new here, pass. Prinny seems more interesting but I don’t have a PSP.
