Capcom Casually Confirms Monster Hunter 3 For The West

By Spencer . February 24, 2009 . 7:41pm

Underwater monster hunting will cross international waters because Monster Hunter 3 is heading to North America and Europe. A statement from Capcom caught by our commenters explains, “One of our leading titles is ‘Monster Hunter 3 (tri-).’ If we can gain recognition of this product in the European and North American markets, our market strategy will see a noticeable change.”

Not shocking, but it’s good to hear Capcom go on record and acknowledge Monster Hunter 3 for regions other than Japan where it comes out this summer. Before Capcom domestically releases Monster Hunter 3 they have another Monster Hunter game for us, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (aka Monster Hunter 2G) for the PSP.

YES! I am so excited. Man, I hope the controls work well on the Wii, either way more meat for the cooking come later this year (I hope)!!

I wonder if Nintendo will help promote it like they’re planning with DQX?

I don’t think that’s exactly a confirmation. I think all it is saying is that if there is some perceived demand for the game, they may change their strategy and bring it out over here. Capcom USA already said as recently as a few weeks ago that the game wasn’t coming, so things could certainly change, but that statement is no confirmation of it.

Capcom USA hasn’t ever denied it though, I think they’ve just sidestepped commenting all together… outside vague mentions of wanting to really push MH in the west anyway. I doubt they’re really planning on doing that with Freedom Unite.
