Square Enix Reminds Us Of Dragon Quest IX Delay With Trailer

By Spencer . February 24, 2009 . 5:50am

image With five months to go until Dragon Quest IX comes out in Japan there is plenty of time for Square Enix to refuel the hype train. For starters, they just released a “new” Dragon Quest IX trailer on their YouTube channel with glorious looking gameplay footage.

By “new” I mean new for the public. This trailer with fire spell casting and King Slime squishing was originally shown at Jump Fiesta with one slight change. The release date has been updated to say July 11. How painful would it have been if Square Enix forgot to change the release date? You can watch an embedded clip with the old release date here or click over to the official video and watch the movie in high definition.

  • Happy Gamer
    is this the same engine as the FF DS titles? like 3,4 CC etc.
    looks like it kind of. either way im so excited. man past 8 months have been a drain on me. im a big vinyl record collector and i had to make hard *rolls eyes* choices between games and LP lol. except today.
    anyways im one of those gamers who need to play the originals if i missed it before new ones. i still need to play games like DQ 1-3 (couldn't afford the game as child) and also a bit off but blue dragon then BD plus etc. anyways in the meantime delay is ok for me -_-;;;;
  • Since Level 5 is developing Dragon Quest IX and Matrix Software made FF3 and FF4 for the DS it won't be the same engine. DQ9 won't come to North America probably for sometime either so you have a chance to catch up on a huge backlog of Dragon Quest games if you're brave enough to except the challenge :P
