Ninja Blade Slices And Dices In Ten Languages

image Microsoft announced Ninja Blade will come out in North America on April 7. Wish I knew about a solid release date before I imported Ninja Blade. Just kidding!


One item that immediately impressed me about the Asian version was Microsoft put ten language options on the disc. It’s not like Ninja Blade is fully localized into Polish or Korean, though. You only have an option for English and Japanese voices and a seemingly random mix of both occur during story scenes. Ninja Blade does have ten different text options for menus and subtitles ranging from essential English to uncommon Chinese and Russian. While Ninja Blade isn’t a text heavy game offering ten language choices is still pretty impressive. It might even be some kind of record!


You can play Ninja Blade in: English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, and Russian. Now that’s a global localization.

    I notice that in the spec too, but this game has mostly Eng. dialogue and very little Jpn right? It’s cool that they throw in multiple languages like Lost Odyssey, it was even dubbed in German, French, & Italian. I wish more RPGs would do that even though the script is much bigger. Often times the lack of Jpn audio is a deal breaker for me, I heard Star Ocean 4’s Eng. dub is quite horrible.. there’s just no excuse for not including dual tracks. Like Sonic, Ninja Gaiden, SF4, etc, you can change the text and audio btwn Eng. & Jpn on the fly, like owning both versions of the game on one disc.

    why cant all game Dev put some text languages in and one original voice track. like allways japanese. i love japanese sync. though i understand little, its still far superior to english/other language dubbing (in most cases)

      Not always, as its mainly one’s opinion. Someone could say the opposite. Wish there was more dubbing in other languages, as that would really help expand the audience. That is the real point, to expand, not to reduce your audience.

        While having multiple languages is all well and good, I think Jpn should at least not be omitted since it’s the original audio track for most Jpn games, especially JRPGs, unless it’s a disc capacity issue or other legal factors that I’m not aware of that prevent it from being done. Like RE Degeneration on Blu-ray, I know the lip sync is primarily to English and it’s best to watch it that way like all he Pixar CG films, but I also would like the Jpn track available since it’s there but the US version chose not to put it on, they have French, Portuguese, & Thai, but why not Jpn just like all the anime DVDs, rendering the sub/dub point moot for years.

        I thought it would be a common trend since they did it w/ Project Sylpheed, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, and Lost Odyssey, then all the games that came later like Tales of Vesperia, Last Remnant, Star Ocean 4 revert back to Eng. only, what gives. Even the first 3 Phoenix Wright DS games have them.

          Only thing I can think of is that Capcom was worried about reverse importation. Cheaper to import from US than to buy local, so they exclude the Japanese to stop Japanese importers who want it cheap. I read that it was a concern for some anime DVD Japanese companies from anime websites of anime DVDs. Which I can understand, as DVD prices are higher there but cheap in the US. Not sure if that the true reason, though.

          It boggles the mind why not all games don’t do it. I understand space issues and English only for targeting the US market, but with the technology now, those games should have them. Unless its a license issue for some Japanese VA or trouble programming them in.
