How Hudson Uses The GBA Slot On The DS

How Hudson Uses The GBA Slot On The DSSega, Nintendo, Activision, and Hudson share at least one thing in common. They all use the DS’ GBA slot for accessories. Since the Nintendo DSi is the new toy on the block you would think publishers would quit building devices that require a GBA slot now. Not Hudson!

Specific for Metal Fight Beyblade is a Beypoint Reader. This GBA slot device acts as an adapter that connects the Nintendo DS game to a Beypointer, a device that keeps track of your top spinning Beyblade stats in real life and now the Nintendo DS game too. Another interesting idea and another device for collectors to track down.

I still think Nintendo shot themselves in the foot by removing the GBA slot.

Question, are developers allowed to use the SD slot in-game, for things like custom soundtrack for instance?

Good question. Since there aren’t any DSi only retail games we haven’t heard of such a feature.
