This Week In Imports: Picross Idol

By Spencer . March 9, 2009 . 1:16am

image Sony is pushing the Resistance series in Japan by launching Resistance Retribution before we get it and bundling Dualshock 3 controllers with Resistance 2. Microsoft counters the Chimera assault with… the Idolm@ster? Two budget re-releases of the Xbox 360 Idolm@ster also come out in Japan this week.

While we’re in the eye of an RPG tsunami Japan is in an RPG drought with only Atelier Annie and a Phantom Brave port to satiate this week. Speaking of ports, Koei’s extended version of Warriors Orochi entitled Musou Orochi Z for Japan and Nintendo has Pikmin 2 ready to ship. Rittai Picross and it’s block twisting puzzles looks like the game for me this week.

What about you? Anything worth importing? Or are the domestic releases of Resident Evil 5, Madworld, and Avalon Code enough?

I’m still waiting on my copy of Ryo Ga Gotoku 3 import even though I can’t read any Japanese…
But anyways for this week, I’m going for RE4, Avalon Code, Mario Tennis Wii, Mana Khemia: Student Alliance. If I could read Japanese, I would really want to try out Idolm@ster. But I can’t D:

  • Mazen

Japan never in an RPG drought last week they got 7th Dragon a game that equal few weeks releases (even thought I haven’t play it yet) but I agree some periods have less than others.

Though it’s not an import, I’ll probably most certainly be picking up Docomodake.

It looks to quirky not to have.

Yeah Docomodake is a quirky title. I played the Japanese version awhile back and it’s going to be a real interesting localization. Kinda relaxing to play since things never really get hectic.

  • HCKPro

What about that spanking game for the DS…?

    • pressstart

I am intrigued. Please elaborate on this “game”.

I’m not sure what you’re thinking of, but if it’s Kimokawae like Mazen pointed out it came out last week.

  • Trotmeister

What’s the name of the game that accompaniea this article’s preview on the mainpage?

    • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

That would be Atelier Annie from Gust.

  • Andy

If it’s not too expensive, I’ll probably pick up Rittai Picross. I tend to import a lot of puzzle games, since they never require more Japanese than I know. Plus, I’ve been looking forward to this since it was announced.

  • Aoshi00

I would like to get Rittai Picross too. Damn Nintendo’s Jpn commercials featuring various hot gals, that got me sold :)
