Sonic Unleashed DLC Starts Today, More Incoming

Now on the Xbox Live Marketplace worldwide and PlayStation Store only in Japan is a Chun-nan Adventure Pack for Sonic Unleashed. Four stages with Sonic racing through China and two Werehog levels are included in the 250 Microsoft Point ($3.12) expansion.

Excited? Then you will be happy to hear Sega is working on more DLC. The Japanese press release announcing the level pack says moving forward Sega will periodically distribute additional Sonic Unleashed downloadable content. Looks like the easy thing to do is release more remixed levels, but Sonic is a huge franchise. There is potential for Sega to make other characters already modeled for Sonic Unleashed playable, but looking at the direction of the Sonic series we’ll probably just get more levels.

I’d pay 250 MSP to play as LuBu.

  • OK, just…I don’t get it.

This is a smart thing. A very smart way to address the issues of one of the better Sonic games in a while. Why include the damn Werehog levels at all when all people do is complain about them? Sell traditional Sonic levels, make them replayable. Earn some goodwill in the process.

They should just reboot it again and make an old school Sonic game. Pull a Mega Man 9!

    • Sega can’t do that, they always try to make it cool for the modern kid with lots of extra thigns not in the original sonic games, like the rollercoaster level design from Sonic Advance and the extereme speed, rollercoaster design and mid-air tricks in Sonic Rush.

It’d be great if they could really go back to basics but at best, Sonic 2D in the future will always play like a roller coaster and nothing like some of the classic levels from Sonic 3 or Sonic and Knuckles, sprites are much worse now too.

Sega please more of the amazing Sonic day levels but don’t touch the werehog if they do this I would buy all their new packs without thinking about the price :)

How is this game? Aside from the werewolf stuff. The racing aspects look like fun.
I don’t really want to complain about the werewolf stuff cause I like to think its for the new generation of gamers.

Download the demo, as for me the the day stages are the best sonic stages ever! even better than the old 2d ones, but I hated the werehog and the minigames so much.

Sonic Unleashed is definitely one of the best Sonic games in a long time. I thought the werehog stages were okay, if not great, they didn’t bother me that much. The combo fighting was somewhat fun, but the control could be frustrating at times when precise platforming is required. So I guess that would be the last thing people for for extra DLC.

It was collecting the sun and moon coins before unlocking new stages that bugs me because often I wouldn’t have enough.

Still haven’t beaten Eggmanland though, the last stage was so dang hard and long. I played for like an hour , died and then gave up. I probably need to save up 99 lives before tackling it again.
