First Final Fantasy XI Extra Episode Bestowed In March

By Spencer . March 16, 2009 . 2:36am

ffc World of Warcraft may dominate the MMO scene, but Final Fantasy XI is still alive. Square Enix will support their premier online RPG with three downloadable episodes. Crystalline Prophecy – Ode of Life Bestowing puts a giant crystal over Jeuno on March 23. If you pay $9.99 for the episode you can see how it links to Vana’diel’s past. After a version update scheduled in April 2009 players who purchased the episode get access to the new content. A difference between the sale date and play date for the downloadable MMO episode? Is this standard?

Two other add-on scenarios, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat – Evil in Small Doses and A Shantotto Ascension – The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born, are scheduled for release later this year.

I’m waiting for the episode that explains where all the Mithra have locked up the males… and the real secret to a Galka’s birth/rebirth…

    *sigh*

Okay, I lied, I haven’t touched FFXI in ages… but those two mysterious would still be number one on my list to solve!

Blast it.. a combination of No Script and Netvibes not liking Disqus commenting is to blame for this… wait, why is there no delete comment button?!

That mystery should be solved too…

Sale date and play date for FFXI was normal when I played, but that was for actually buying a disc. The expansion would normally be available in Japan first causing North America/Europe to have to wait a few days to a week or more to be able to buy the disc. This made everyone angry because Japan had first access to the content to take advantage of everything while fewer players were in the areas. There doesn’t seem to be a point for this with a downloadable expansion, but I’m sure it will be a buggy incomplete piece of software like expansions have been in the past so waiting may actually be better!
