The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Spooks Virtual Console Next Month

imageVirtual Console Arcade is running and the service looks promising after seeing Namco Bandai’s huge arcade line up. We’ll have to wait for those games to come out another month. The only arcade game they are releasing in the next few weeks is Samurai Ghost and it goes online this Tuesday in Japan.

Many of the other games on this list like Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse and Kirby’s Dream Land 3 already came out in North America. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, however, has not. Chances are Nintendo of America will put it on our Virtual Console sometime this year without the premium price of 1,200 Wii Points ($12).

Here’s this months Virtual Console line up in Japan with the addition of Samurai Ghost:

Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse

Super Famicom
Der Langrisser
Kirby’s Dream Land 3

Nintendo 64
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (1,200!)

Master System
Phantasy Star

PC Engine
Ninja Gaiden

Virtual Console Arcade
Samurai Ghost (3/31)
Space Invaders

I know I may be in the minority, but I always loved this game. It retained the zelda feeling and yet was able to do a lot of very innovative things for the series, something that IMHO Wind Waker and Twilight Princess didn’t seem to do. More games like this Nintendo. Innovation not in just control but in gameplay.

Why minority? everyone loves this game, but the debates and fights about if its better than OOT or of its better than the other 3d ones.

      • I’m going to have to agree. Majora’s Mask is my favourite 3D Zelda. NOA better bring this over, pronto.

Majora’s Mask is full of annoyances, but if you can look beyond them, it’s an amazing game. I think it handles the “end of the world” vibe better than any other game I’ve played.

This version of castlevania 3 had an easier difficulty and used a custom sound chip to provide an additional track o’ music. The PC Engine version of ninja gaiden is a nice grab too.

Excellent, can’t wait until we get MM, PS1 and NG PCE here!

  • ShadowYuri

Excellent ! Now that is some game newcomers will be able to experience (Majora’s Mask : my favorite game of all time ; and no, this is different than a best game ever), I was starting to wonder when Nintendo would put it on Virtual Console.

    Der Langrisser!! :0

Let’s see that in Europe. There is the US version (Warsong), but us Euros never had an official release. Still, I dearly love the game and not only because I paid an enormous import fee back in the day.

The SNES version didn’t get a US release though, only the Genesis version did.
