I really like Drakengard's art that I bought the artbook right after I finished the game, the characters have a certain sadness to them, which was the case given how dark the game was.

I also like Lost Odyssey's char design by Inoue Takehiko (Slam Dunk, Vagabond) and set design from various artists, very exotic.

Speaking of art of Mistwalker games, I fell in love w/ the art of Archaic Sealed Heat, even though many people didn't like that game.

The character/costume designs are also pleasantly mad. I wanted to say “restrained,” but they're still very outlandish. They only appear conservative when set next to the over the top garishness of most JRPG fashion. The almost biomechanical look of some of the designs recalls Panzer Dragoon Saga as well, and that's never a bad thing.

Also, I believe the two full color pictures are definitely Cry On concept art. They've been floating around for a while now. Didn't Mistwalker originally hype Cry On as a “tearjerker?” Is this what they meant? Teasing us forever with lovely concept art for a canned game?

The art looks amazing. I don't know why, I just really like it. It seems as if it would have made a good game, with a darker setting.

In the last picture there seems to be a large golem thing in the background. Maybe it's just me, but it looks similar to the broken golem head in the original Cry On image, the one with the little girl. (I might just be imagining things)

I wonder if it's possible that Mistwalker canned the name and possibly scenario, but will still use the assets for a different game. It's been a while since the first announcement, and it seems like a waste to just throw away all that work. Unless of course they have been ignoring the game and haven't really done anything relating to it at all.

Anyways, here's hoping that this art goes into a game that actually sees the light of day.
