Sands Of Destruction Sacked Until 2010

By Spencer . April 3, 2009 . 9:51am

image Sorry if we got your hopes up for a Sand of Destruction summer release. Sega USA changed the release date on the game’s product page again and now Sands of Destruction slated to come out in Winter 2010, delayed from the original target of Fall 2009.

One possibility for the change is Sega may be holding the game back to launch it with the manga and/or anime. Production I.G. produced the thirteen episode series which aired on TV Tokyo last summer.

My god, I was shocked when you were talking about “sad news” regarding Sands of Destruction, thinking it might no longer be localized or some such.

The delay will let me catch up with my RPG backlog.

    Yeah, I wish.

    • Ahh… sorry! I didn’t mean for that to be so dramatic.

I come home to a fairly good Friday, and now I see this news?

    Sad day.

  • ShadowYuri

Ah, can’t really say I’m sad (honestly, we have WAY too many RPGs on the DS alone this year), and I did think it was strange to be released this summer anyway. Until next year then !

  • Wishy

    A full year?!

  • Constraint

Jesus christ. What kind of fanservice is this?

  • Simon

can’t complain since too much DS Rpgs.. i got less interested in this game when it was translated to Sands of Destruction. I would have been sad if this game was called World Destruction

Oh god… how long will I have to wait for Seventh Dragon then? :(

I’ve been interestered in this game for a long time, mainly due to the Xenogears design and Mitsuda music. But I held off buying the import because I knew the US version is coming soon, and the fact they are improving on the unbalanced difficulty / random encounter rate. Nevertheless, I am very eager to find out just how bad or good this game actually is.

Also at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I’m going to say again, the anime is really “bad” and would most likely turn any potential gamer into not buying the game, at least it made me abhor the “World Destruction” title, the meaning behind it is so trivial. Never think I would say this since I almost always prefer Jpn dub, another reason I haven’t bought the import is because Sakamoto Maaya and Miyano Mamoru bothered the heck out of me in the anime, they sound annoying :(…

I’m a little sad to see it shuffled to early 2010 release, but maybe with more time, they can make the localization better, which in the end is worth waiting a few months more for.

I’ve said this before, but the title “Sands of Destruction” has really grown on me. I’m glad they changed it.
