ffx13rConfirming what the Final Fantasy XIII trial version ended with, Final Fantasy XIII will come out in Japan this winter. Not “January 2010 winter”, but 2009 winter which pegs the release in November or December of this year. The official site posted an update with the same target and a selection of battle screens posted below.

One of the new moves all characters have is a launch command. Select this and you can knock an enemy into the air and juggled them if they in “break” status.

I hope SE remember they gave their game a date this time. Last time they claimed they never gave a date for something (think it was AC, actually) when they actually did give one, ha!

    • Kaoro

It doesn’t really matter, if they find they need to delay it, they will. The sooner it’s out in Japan, the sooner they can finish localization and porting!

While I’m glad to hear a date, I say take their time to polish it instead of rushing out an half baked game, expectation for this is high (FF 12 really let me down).

You know, since they jacked FF VII Int’l’s price to 1,500 yen (rather than the regular 600) on the PSN store, I’m interested to know how they would price this, would it be some ridiculous mark-up like the other flag-ship title Dragon Quest just because they can?

At any rate, after I saw the demo last night and found out it’s turn-based, I’m greatly looking forward to it and would pluck down the dough to import this on day 1.

If I could read Japanese, I would totally import this on Day 1.
I want to know how may different game editions they’re going to release. FFXII had just the steel book case and the one extra disc, I wonder what might be included on this?

Surprising if it holds, since it goes against Wada’s “no DQ & FF in the same fiscal year” rule. Then again, maybe they’re projecting lower sales for FFXIII than the series is used to in Japan?

  • Hello Hello

I hope the game is out in North America by this time next year.
