Sony’s PSP Detective Game Negotiates June Release

Does a game called Okage: Shadow King ring a bell? This PSP game is from the same developer, Zener Works.

First seen at Tokyo Game Show, Diamond and the Sound of a Gunshot is a visual novel where players negotiate tense situations. See how the portraits push each other? It’s more than a dramatic effect. This lets players know how close they are at pushing their negotiations.

Even though it hasn’t gotten much attention, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan will release Diamond and the Sound of a Gunshot in on June 18. There’s little chance that Sony will give this game a retail release, but if Patapon 2 can go digital why can’t this?

    English release please!

Seems like the scenario is done by the same guy who did “Anata wo Yurusanai”, so I’m confident the story would be good. I love the more realistic otona-manga art style too. I hope the gameplay part would give player more options to affect the outcome of the negotiation instead of just pressing some buttons along a linear story, it’s nice they let us try this the demo first.

Main character looks like Light Yagami

  • Looks really interesting. I could see this selling if Sony manages to pull a “mature Phoenix Wright” marketing angle – though digital distro is probably more likely than retail, as you mentioned.

This actually looks like it could be a good game. I always like me a little Mystery/Crime game once in awhile. It’s good to mix things up with one of these.
