P.S. The Raiho Plushie Comes With A Game

Devil Summoner 2

Every copy of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon is sold in a diorama box with Raiho proudly holding a copy of the PlayStation 2 game. It’s almost like you’re buying Raiho and getting the game as a bonus.

When Atlus first announced the Raiho plush bundle I imagined they would seal Raiho in a bag and tape him to the box. Now, I wonder how hard this sealed boxset will be to find down the line. Only the first round of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon will come with Raiho. Pre-orders at Amazon and Gamestop are still available, but on May 12, the day the game comes into stores I can’t imagine these being out in the wild very long. Next to a vanilla PlayStation 2 game the packaging is eye catching.

Ordered it today almost strictly based on the incredibly packaging. Hope the game is good too if I can bring myself to open the package :).

Sooo I’m going to go pre-order this now.

I haven’t played the first one, so I should probably hold off on it for now till I get my hands on it.

  • Akimitsu

    I so want this game.

The box just sold me. Pre-ordering it now.
If Atlus keeps on shoving goodies like this our way, I don’t know what my wallet will do…

If GameStop screws up my box and loses my Raihou, oh there will be hell to pay!

I actually haven’t played the first one and only saw my friend play bits of it. But I pre-ordered from Amazon several months ago for the plush too. Can’t believe how good the packaging is and this is only $36.99! In Jpn it would cost $120 or something. Looking forward to this and FF ACC.

Why do you do this to me Atlus?

It’s like they knew that I was going to hold off on buying this game (especially since I only played the first one for a few hours, and finishing it isn’t a high priority). But then they go and package it with that plushie because they knew that would make me buy it right away.

I pre-ordered this way back when they first announced the plushie, and then found a copy of the first Devil Summoner soon after to validate my purchase. I really enjoyed it, too.

If you’re wondering, DS1 is a solidly stylish action-RPG with SMT summon monster elements. (Or, if you prefer, it’s like Pokemon except Ash a sword-swinging, gun-toting detective who fights alongside his monsters.) The combat system was admittedly rough around the edges, but I’ve heard that DS2 fixes that up quite nicely.

If you’re preordering through Amazon, go to Atlus.com and click through their site. They get a kickback that way, so they get a little extra money to help them get good games to publish.

  • Vino (Tim N)

I pre-ordered off Amazon when it was first announced too.
