Here’s What Magnacarta 2 Sounds Like With English

By Spencer . April 30, 2009 . 6:48am

You’ve seen the Japanese trailer of Magnacarta 2. Now watch the US trailer and sample the English voice acting.

Watch closely and you can also catch a few new scenes with the beast-like Argo. You might be wondering if Namco Bandai plans on keeping the original voice acting. I asked and the answer I got was “no.”

I don’t really care for Bosch, but Crispin Freeman is always applicable. Something about that voice..

  • Dork

Wow, that whole trailer almost seemed like it was taken word for word from the anime Eureka Seven.

Hopefully this game will wash out that terrible taste in my mouth that Star Ocean TLH left with me.

few parts seems cliche…. like the main character get all angry and start destroyin stuff

    no thanks.

Johnny Bosch is a good voice actor, but I think I’m getting sick of hearing him. He’s in everything. ><

Game looks sort of interesting. The character designs are different.

I agree that Bosch is way overexposed. Heck, they all are, the English VA pool just seems really small so you get the same actors over and over. Bosch and Freeman are both good VAs though, which is a plus. Is the female character voiced by Kari Wahlgren? I’m not very good at distinguishing voices, but it sounds like her and she’s in everything too.

I’m disappointed that Namco-Bandai is not going to offer Japanese voices though. I prefer an English dub as long as it is good, but I always like to have the option of Japanese voices for a different experience on a second playthrough. I really wanted that on Tales of Vesperia, and that’s one reason I will be picking up the PS3 version if it is released in the US. That’s at least one thing MS got right with Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.

Huuh. Nice voice acting. And I’m starting to change my mind on this game. Never played the first Magna Carta, but this one I might pick up. :O

Don’t let the pretty pictures rope you in. The first game was terrible!

  • Tye The Czar

The fact that NB’s not putting in Japanese VO’s is not just stupid. It’s downright criminal in this day and age. It’s simply treason to gaming.

  • Pesmerga00

Not bad. I recognize almost all the voices from other games/anime. While the game may have some overused voice actors, at least they have experience, and typically do a pretty good job. In my opinion one of the best English dubs is Final Fantasy XII, partly because it doesn’t use popular VO’s but, they can’t all be that good. I’d rather have a competent dub using familiar VOs, than a horrible one with new VOs.

  • Aoshi00

Sounds like a very good dub.

As long as they’re competent, I don’t mind hearing the same VAs portraying different characters in anime/games. Veteran voice actors are supposed to be versatile. All the VAs get their shot at their prime, like from the 80′s you would hear the same hotshot seiyuu all the time, eg. Inoue Kazuhiko voicing all the male leads, now he’s old and does the more laidback Kakashi in Naruto. Then Yamaguchi Kappei or Hayshibara Megumi (boy and girl Ranma) in the 90′s, and now Miyano Mamoru (Light) and Hirano Aya (Polka, Haruhi), so on and so forth. And their actual prime is not long either, like within a decade and seems to be shorter now.

I’m not as familiar w/ Eng. VAs as the Jpn counterparts, but Bosch was pretty good in Last Remnant as Rush, though the story and char were bland.. It is a pity that Namco Bandai chooses to leave out the Jpn track, they did both for Eternal Sonata..

I’m more familiar w/ seiyuu in general, but I could always use a good Eng. dub. Don’t know why people keep complaining about Star Ocean 4, I like the sci-fi backdrop like Xenosaga, and I actually prefer the Eng. dub to Jpn.

This seems a couple years too late. I remember it when it was named Star Ocean: Till the end of time. Well just saying those faces and that voice seem so familiar.
