Konami Stealthily Brings Contra Rebirth On WiiWare

By Spencer . May 8, 2009 . 1:36am

Following the footsteps of Gradius ReBirth, Konami quietly announced Contra ReBirth on a product page (thanks for the tips Ishaan and Denpa no Sekai!!). The WiiWare game goes on sale in Japan on May 12 for 1,000 Wii Points and has two player co-op play.

Konami says the game is a new work, but it isn’t clear if Contra ReBirth is a remix like Gradius ReBirth. Seems like Konami is growing a series of a ReBirth arcade games. I wonder what’s next… Yie Ar Kung-Fu ReBirth? Twinbee ReBirth?

Salamander Rebirth next surely, wasn’t it announced a few months ago?

    Green Beret Rebirth, plz!

My, that was a difficult game. But Contra is no cakewalk, either, and I’ll be sure to support this. I wonder if they are going to inlcude a skin for the Euro-“Probotectors”. I kinda liked those more than the steroid-men.

Castlevania Rebirth! Please! And not a Castleroid game, but something along the lines of Bloodlines or Drac X for a change!

(And, yes, Salamander Rebirth was already announced/rumored a month or two ago as noted by JAO.)

    Is wayforward involved?

    • jarrodand

Probably not. My guess is M2.

  • One thing for sure: 2 Player Coop!!!

  • I never grew up with the Contra games. In fact, I just played Contra 4 yesterday and that was my first game. I’m -loving- it so far so this is something to look forward, too!

  • Twinbee or Castlevania sooner or later please!

Hopefully this is made by the team that made Gradius Galaxies. The graphics are a little cartoony for my taste, but if it’s made by Japanese people, I’m sure it will be good.

    Blades of Steel ReBirth!
I am not a big sports guy, but I loved that game.
