Sega Gives Us A Status Update On Sands of Destruction

By Spencer . May 13, 2009 . 3:39pm

After officially announcing Sands of Destruction Sega hasn’t said much about their Nintendo DS RPG. Out of the blue we’re treated to a new battle trailer with a giant teddy bear and a sample of the English voice acting. The voice samples might not be up to par, but the classic sprite battles look great. Also, this is probably the only RPG starring a bear that hyper jumps to the top screen and knocks bugs out of the sky.

Sands of Destruction is progressing, but Sega is sticking to the Winter 2010 release window that we discovered last month. Originally, Sands of Destruction was on target for Fall 2009, which means delays the end of the world three or four months.

I’d play it, and I’m glad they did delay it because then they can take thier time.

Now if they localize Imageepoch’s other DS rpg Seventh Dragon too I’d be a happy Sega fan.

    • Mazen

Seventh Dragon is not from Imageepoch its collaboration between Sega’s Reiko Kodama and some ex Etrian Odyssey team.

Just going by what websites says, even Siliconera goes by that company.

Imageepoch was still part of the Seventh Dragon project acting as the developer.

        • Mazen

          Ah! I see.

Very high on my radar. Cannot complain about waiting until next year, cos I’m backlogged on DS RPGs anyways. Is Phantasy Star Zero still on track for this year?

    • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

It is! PSZ is coming “winter 2009″.

They had me at the Duke Nukem-sounding teddy bear.

    • Chow

Haha, yeah, I was like wtf when I heard that Duke Nukem voice.

  • Chow

Interesting to note that the trailer uses an NDS Lite instead of a NDSi.

If these messages finally post, I apologize for the excessive posts. It keeps on saying that it posts, but they’re not showing up. Sorry!

looking good. I like the Teddy’s voice XD
I’m also backlogged with all the good DS games (and RPGs), so I’m not complaining about the late release.
