Dissidia: Final Fantasy’s Reversible Cover Art

By Spencer . May 15, 2009 . 1:00pm

Choose your allegiance to Cosmos or Chaos with the Dissidia: Final Fantasy package art. One side has all the Cosmos and all of the Final Fantasy heroes as imagined by Tetsuya Nomura. Flip it over and you have villains.

Good? Bad? Better than original?

One detail Square Enix hasn’t discussed is what they plan to do with all of the Dissidia: Final Fantasy passwords. These codes were freely given away on websites in Japan post launch to unlock extra content like friend cards and ghost battles.

I agree. Get the Japanese art in the corner plus this extra stuff is good in my eyes.

  • I always love reversible cover art, it’s a nice touch to the packaging. Many PSP games have done it before and wish companies would do the same more often with other platforms.

The new boxart itself looks great too, and better than just a logo.

Honestly….I prefer the Yoshitaka Amano cover that was packaged in the LE Bundle in Japan.

…..Come ooooon, Best Buy metallic exclusive…!!! Give us another Crisis Core….thingy!

  • Japan’s stark Final Fantasy logo covers are mostly done for the sake of tradition & nostalgia, I believe. I mean, it’s a solid design, but after dozens of games it’s a bit limiting. So, yeah, I think the character lineup cover is a more captivating and accurate one.

I prefer the original. The new covered is a bit too cluttered.

  • It’s a beauty, no doubt.

This cover art is awesome!!! :) much better than the japanese ver.

A US version beats the Japanese one for once. Hi5, Squeenix.

Awesome, now we can savor all the character arts w/o having resort to getting the canned sodas :) It would be cool to have the Amano Limited Edition art as the reversible, but that’s probably asking too much.

What I found interesting though was that the US covers for FF III & IV DS only sport the plain logos, while the Jpn covers had full Amano illustrations.

  • CoolChibi

Wow for the first time the NA box art is better than the Japanese box art!!XD

Well here in the UK we usually get the original simplistic design, whereas the US versions tend to be more ‘graphic intense’, so for the sake of my collection I would normally go the original cover, but on this occasion I just can’t say no to Tetsuya Nomura’s outstanding artwork!

    ……and how purdy is cloud!
