Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil Sneaking On PlayStation Classics

image The domestic line up of downloadable PsOne games is thin, but it appears that Sony will fill up the store with heavy hitters like Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil: Director’s Cut.

Both of these games were re-rated by the ESRB as PlayStation 3 and PSP games with Sony Computer Entertainment as the publisher — a good sign that these will be re-released on the PlayStation Store. Spec Ops: Cover Assault, Spec Ops: Ranger Elite, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six also got the same treatment.

So, when will we get these games? The last time we dug up re-rated PsOne games they showed up in the PlayStation Store the same day. However, other games like Suikoden and Castlevania: Chronicles didn’t appear for months.

I want Trophys for the old games : /
Maybe because of the psp didn’t support Trophys…and the games are also for psp….will se on e3 ^^

There are no Trophies because the games themselves are pretty much the manuals + the untouched original disc images jammed into into a single file.

Alrdy got MGS on the Jpn PSN store (which made me go on a MGS binge from 1 to 4), and the US version on the anthology, so..

Wasn’t a huge fan for the Playstation REs, so I would probably wait till the GC remake for the Wii. Nice to be able to play these classics on the PSP though.

I’m more interested in RE2, since that was my favorite of the old school RE games. I hope Capcom’s promise of big announcements on the PSN front hold up. Or else a release of the N64 RE2 on the Virtual Console. I foolishly sold off my N64 collection years ago, and that’s one of the games I miss.

Am I the only one that is getting slightly tired of hundreds of ports we’ve bought and played a million times over AND still have? I guess there is a good market for this as lots of people buy them, but I feel like digital downloading everything can be a money sink. Anyone else agree? (Also despise Patapon 2 case with no UMD =[ )
