Finally, You Can Order Pizza With Your Wii

Nintendo just launched a new Wii Channel that beats /pizza. The Demae Channel (Catering Channel) lets users point and pick dinner with the Wii remote.

Categories include pizza, sushi, bento boxes, Chinese food, Western food, and others. Pizza Hut falls in pizza while KFC strangely falls into the “others” group. Once an order is placed users wait for the food to arrive and pay the delivery person in cash, not Wii Points. The service also plans to offer coupons to cut the price of meals.

Similar to the Wii no Ma Channel Nintendo has a third party partner running the Demae Channel. Yume no Machi Souzou Iinkai, a door to door food delivery corporation, is handling the day to day business. Actually, the channel looks like a Wii interface for an existing food delivery website Yume no Machi Souzou Iinkai currently operates. Since the infrastructure is provided by an outside party it might be difficult for Nintendo of America to create a Western equivalent.

This and WiiFit make an excellent combination.

Work out -> reward yourself with fast food -> need to work out some more.

I have a friend that made a vlog about two large pizzas costing 60 bucks in Japan. Don't have to tip, though!
They probably could set up one in the states if they really overhauled the service and organization (places like Quiznos and other pizza companies do the online order delivery thing now). My friend also mentioned a lot of areas in Japan don't readily have pizza available, much less delivery in many areas.

COOL, I am going to try this. Unfortunately you probably cannot use coupons.

This would be really good for business, but I can imagine some instances where people might go hungry, because of “just one more turn” moments in games where you refuse to quit.

I guess I just took the price of pizza for granted here. Little Ceasars has a $5 large pizza.

Considering that I have at least read that Japan has a much lower PC install base in homes, this makes sense. I can't really see it working in the US though. It is much easier to go to a website and type everything in with a full sized keyboard, at least if you know how to type. Neat idea though.

Replay Value goes through the roof!

I totally doubt this is comming out in America.

You do know Wii is compatible with USB keyboards, right?
Anyways, I doubt you would have to type in your information more than once. If it's saved, should be a simple matter of “click on what's tasty”.
I think it would be a great idea. Although I can't think of any sushi bars nearby that deliver.

Dang I know things are expensive in Jpn, but ~$35 for a pizza, that's luxury. And here we have $5 for a 10″ from Dominos, that only gets you a topping in Jpn, lol. Do we have Pizza Huts in the US anymore, I don't see many of them..

It's kind of cool you can order food on the Wii, but most places here have their own websites too so it's a little redundant. Kind of unique since I always think of a console as a multimedia center at most.
