Square Enix Slates Final Fantasy XIII’s Domestic Release

imageE3 is getting underway and Square Enix wants to assuage concerns about Final Fantasy XIII’s release date early. Huge ads placed right outside of the Staples Center state the game will be in North American stores next year.

Yoichi Wada, the President of Square Enix, doesn’t seem optimistic about releasing Final Fantasy XIII overseas this fiscal year. So, that means the game’s release date can fall between April 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. My shot in the dark guess is September 2010.

Aww, i'm so disappointed. but...i haven't even played Final Fantasy XII. LOL , well, plenty of time ^^

I'll be hoping for a begining of summer release so I won't feel bad about playing during school. A September release would be horrible lol.
    I'll put $20 on a June 2010 release.

Lol, now I'm importing. Who has a year when you can play it now?

Are there any details as to whether or not the Japanese version will have english subs?
  • Aoshi00
I really doubt it. To this day they have never included eng. sub in a JPRG when it's first released in Jpn. Even Lost Odyssey, Mistwalker dubbed it in Eng and Jpn, but the Jpn game only had Jpn subtitles, while the US ver out two months later included five languages. Even for the FF International re-release, it usually has the Eng. dub but remains Jpn txt only. Or the latest ACC movie, they had dual audio tracks but Jpn sub only.

For me it's the other way around, if I know they're not leaving in the original Jpn track, then I'm definitely importing it. I think it would be worth it after what was XI & XII.. I really feel a FFX vibe here in terms of an emotional story.
  • I have to agree with Aoshi00. This is really unlikely since the releases are staggered. All of the "International" releases have Japanese text too so it's very rare to see Square Enix release a game overseas with in English and Japanese.

The exception to the rule are the three Xbox 360 games which got separate Japanese and English releases in Asia.
