Square Enix Catches Taito Fever, Announces Six Games

Square Enix Catches Taito Fever, Announces Six Games Bubble Bobble Plus, which came out on WiiWare yesterday, is the first of many Taito games Square Enix plans to publish overseas.

Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure!, another WiiWare game, looks like it’s next with a June 15th release date. Arkanoid Plus!, a 61 stage WiiWare version of Arkanoid, and Bust-A-Move Plus are scheduled to come out this summer.

Bust-A-Move Plus! comes with 135 levels. An additional 270 stages from Bust-A-Move 2, Super Bust-A-Move, and Bust-A-Move 3 can be downloaded over Nintendo Wi-Fi. Square Enix did not say if the levels will be free of if they would be sold separately. Since Bubble Bobble Plus has paid DLC I’m betting on the latter.

Puzzle Bobble is also coming to the Nintendo DS on July 28 when Space Bust-A-Move arrives in North America. Space Invaders Extreme 2 lands in North America a few months later in the fall. I wonder if Square Enix will keep the moe themed bonus stage in the US version…

Taito should pull a Namco and release a compilation of all four WiWare games on a disc and include all of the bonus content. Call it the Taito Collection Plus! or something.

Excellent idea, except when you already bought some of them. BBP! is awesome, save for the atrocious “arrange” music.

Random Square Enix note: Yosumin! hit Steam today!

I hope Arkanoid Plus gets a kickass soundtrack like DS and the Space Invaders Extreme games.

It may if Arkanoid Plus is the same game as Arkanoid Live and therefore ends up sharing the same soundtrack, as Zuntata also worked on Live.

    Good enough!
