NTR_ProfLayton2_02ss05_E3 While Nintendo isn’t releasing an abundance of first party Wii games this year, the Nintendo DS is well supported with at least seven first party games.

Here’s the list at a glance.

The Legendary Starfy — June 7, 2009
Fossil Fighters (a localized version of Bokura wa Kaseki Holder) — Aug. 10, 2009
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box — Aug. 24, 2009
Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story (aka Mario and Luigi 3) — Fall 2009
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky — Fall 2009
Style Savvy (aka Girls Mode in Japan) — Holiday 2009
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks — Holiday 2009

Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box will get a downloadable puzzle a week for 33 weeks post launch.

RPGs like Glory of Heracles and Golden Sun DS won’t appear until 2010. WarioWare D.I.Y. (aka Made in Ore) and Picross 3D (aka Rittai Picross) have a pie in the sky “TBA” time frame.

Is it just me or did they hire different actors to voice Prof. Layton and Luke? They sound a little different to me in the trailer. Played the import alrdy, excellent game (hamster minigame is a blast), I would buy it again just to hear all the clips in British English. It looks like the font is a little bigger this time around.

So they’ll bring us Starfy and one of those #$%*&#%( dinosaur fossil games, but no Soma Bringer, Choswhatsit Mecha MG or Card Hero.

And later we’ll get Glory of Heracles. The RPG series we’ve all been pining for.

    • I was holding onto hope that we might hear Choushoujuu Mecha MG finally being announced, too, but that’s expected.

  • Malek86

By “downloadable puzzle”, do they mean unlocking content that is already on the cartridge?

    • daizyujin

Most likely. At least it is free though.

  • Kashi

About damn time with Professor Layton! I wonder when we’ll actually catch up with Japan’s mad releases of the ga,e

  • Yay for Wagamama Fashion Girl’s Mode!
