A Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo Boss Battle

image Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo was at E3 and I played the 2.5D Dragon Ball platformer. The control scheme is a nunchuck attached to a Wii remote.

You move Goku with the analog stick, jump with the B button, and attack with a flurry of fists and stick swipes with A. Goku also has his signature Kamehameha move mapped to the left arrow on the d-pad. You can only unleash a Kamehameha if Goku has enough energy.

The level I tried was a boss fight against a pudgy pink fellow. Similar to Klonoa, Goku can run a lap around the boss as he tries to hit Goku with his tail. Regular attacks, even a Kamehameha blast, don’t damage him. Laser shooting robots drop into the arena and after disabling those Goku can grab them with the Z button and slam them into the ground which freezes the pink blob. When the boss is encased in ice you can deal damage. If Goku gets stunned by a lightning attack you have to shake the remote to revive him.

The boss was at the end of world two and it looks like Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo splits worlds into four parts. While Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo doesn’t have HD graphics, I was impressed by the animation. I think Namco Bandai captured the anime feel in this game better than Dragon Ball: Raging Burst.

    So WHO is developing this?!

Also, it seems that BN is indeed taking the NA rights from Atari, but how?!

    dimps?

As for BN... didn't BN buy Atari Europe just recently? something fisky is going on.

And my guess is that Atari needed the money, in both cases.

BTW Spencer! where is Tales of Graces at E3? (I guess it's not) they attempted last year to release both Tales games, the moneyhatted one and the recycled asset one before the year end... won't they do the same now?
  • Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing, Where the heck is the Tales Of Vesperia for PS3 news and Tales of Graces news at E3?!

The animation does look very impressive, they even sport the old Toriyama style at the time, which was softer and rounder instead of the ultra buff and rigid body lines now. I hope they would make the Goku-Piccolo fight really cool and fun. More excited about this game as the series has been overkilled w/ the yearly fighting games. RPGs and side scrollers are welcome though.
