Capcom Opening Monster Hunter Gaming Center In London

By Spencer . June 11, 2009 . 9:22am

image Monster Hunter Freedom is a social experience in Asia. Gamers congregate in fast food joints like McDonalds and huddle around multiplayer Monster Hunter games. Capcom’s Europe division hopes to spark a similar phenomenon with their Monster Hunter Gathering Hall on 121 Charing Cross Road in London.

A copy of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is your ticket to enter The Gathering Hall. Capcom Europe plans to offer exclusive quest downloads and teach new players how to hunt dinosaurs at the venue. When the developers come to Europe they’ll hang out at the Gathering Hall.

The club opens on Friday, July 3rd at 12PM and it will be open seven days a week for an unspecified time. Even if Capcom only keeps The Gathering Hall open for a month this is a huge promotion. Arguably, the largest promotion for Monster Hunter outside of Japan.

man they are so lucky to have something like this. i hope it blasts off though because I really want Monster Hunter franchise to be able to have confidence to expand their stuff across the world as much as possible, even if it may not be in the states.

Very cool, but I wonder if they are trying too hard. It would be a shame, as well as very bad for their image and the game’s popularity, if the place ended up mostly empty (possibly with a smattering of pasty geeks like myself).
