Vintage Mega Man Games Rushing To PSN Too

By Spencer . June 24, 2009 . 10:28am

rockmanCapcom is celebrating the launch of Mega Man 9 on PlayStation Network… yes really, PlayStation Network. In Japan Mega Man 9 was only released on WiiWare until today.

Capcom is making it up to PlayStation 3 owners with a little contest. People who purchase the Mega Man 9 over PSN will be eligible to win a Mega Man t-shirt or a downloadable version of Rockman: Complete Works, a remake of Mega Man 1, on the PlayStation Store. The contest starts today and runs until July 8.

Currently, the contest is the only way to get Rockman: Complete Works since it’s not available on the PlayStation Store. However, since Capcom created a downloadable version this game will probably go on sale in the game archives collection. Capcom released Perfect Works editions of Mega Man I-VI in Japan. The rest of the games could (probably will?) come to PlayStation Network in the future.

So by remake what do you mean? New sprites? New stages? I always thought they were just ports!
  • I should have used "enhanced port"! These aren't remakes, they're ports with extra features like rearranged music (for some complete works games), hints, and rapid fire shooting.

    Sorry about that!

No its okay, I figured as much. I wonder if the Menus look anything like they did for the MM Anniversary collection for GCN? I hated how it looked! I didnt have a PS2 at the time but when I got one the Menus for it was much better.

Were these games ever compiled onto a single disc like the MMX collection?
  • Yes. The most recent one was GC/PS2/Xbox collection with 1-8 and two arcade games.

There was going to be a collection of the Game Boy games but was canceled.

Aw. Megaman & Bass would've been hot on a console.

Anyways, the classic MM games I have are pretty scattered, so I prolly ought to buy that collection.

Should be cheap. Don't buy the Gamecube one, as in a decision of undeniable idiocy, they switched the A and B button functions.
  • QBasic
Hah, didn't plan on. :P PS2 all the way.

I want the Uniqlo Megaman T-shirt, but they probably wouldn't ship the prize overseas even if you're lucky to win it.
