Sonic Fans Send Sega Handmade Birthday Gifts

Sonic turned 18 years old yesterday. Many websites said “Happy Birthday” to the blue blur while some vocal fans pleaded with Sega to “stop with the kiddie games!” OK, Sonic doesn’t have the love he used to, but Sonic still has a lot of respect in Taiwan.

A group of Taiwanese fans shipped a box of handmade Sonic crafts to Sega. They even drew on the box and somehow it wasn’t damaged over international waters! A blog post on Sonic Channel says they truly thank all of the Sonic fans in Taiwan.

OK North America, Europe, Antarctica! What should we send Sega?

Since when was Sonic *not* a “kiddie” game?

Very nice and thoughtful drawings on the boxes, kudos to the fans. The Wii outings are kind of gimmicky to say the least, w/ genie and King Arthur.. but I thought Unleashed was quite fun even though there are some frustrating werehog parts, but overall it was a good next gen Sonic game, the last stage is too damn long and hard though, I still have yet to beat the game :(… Sonic is pretty much hit or miss these days, usually the latter, and fans have set their expectation to the lowest to avoid disappointment. It’s kind of sad when you compare the Blue blur to the plumber who has continue to thrive in generations..

I loved Sonic and the Secret Rings. Shame the new one with king arthur isn’t more like “it”.

Best 3D sonic ever, IMO. (I never liked Sonic Adventure, felt it got too lost with the free exploration thing for it’s own good)

“If” Sega was to put out stuff like Secret Rings with the Sonic brand… then they’d have me as a faithful client for the product. Sadly though… they haven’t.

Couldn’t stand Secret Rings (and I don’t mind on-rails), I like the thought behind it though. I liked most of the rest enough to still look forward to the series.

      oh btw @ Aoshi.
It’s odd really, many of the games have been given “average” scores in metacritic yet people give up and see horrid review scores even more people skip the actually good ones on handhelds like they “Don’t Count”. Sonic 06 and that recent GBA port was only really the ones given a major negative reception. I guess a series is only as good as its last games. =/

Ah awesome! That reminds me of another handheld I saw at E3.

Does he mean new games as new games in development now or old classics if the former thats huge news even if the developers are some chinese company.

  • Mazen
