I was going to state that the game could of been a retail game but now that you stated it's consumable items, I just cannot find this a fun idea other than for Square-Enix gaining money. >_< I may down the line play this but I have to be wary as to what I have to buy in DLC.

As much as I dislike the additional downloads and their prices, I'm still planning on getting My Life as a Darklord. I'd probably only buy an extra monster or two or one new outfit to go with it.

So, we're at a point where a publisher could potentially make a game too hard and then monetize items that would help a player get past the hard bits? That's actually pretty disgusting. It's as if you were being asked to pay for the jutsu power-ups from Shinobi 3 or additional heart containers in Zelda.

Seriously, shame on Square for this. I can understanding wanting to prolong a game's lifespan and expand its means of income via DLC, but there are better and more creative ways to do it. All it takes is a little effort.

I didn't buy the game since I'm waist deep in other games, but things like Firaga and the Shock Whip are consumable. You don't have to buy Firaga each time, but I think they might act like helper items to get players out of a bind.

Actually, the Light Dress and Dark Dress alter Mira's stats! So these costumes aren't just cosmetic.

I probably wouldn't buy a costume, though. Game-enhancing additions I would / will buy if I like the game enough.

Looks like one doesn't have to grind levels anymore. Just whip out the credit card, and boom, there is your Firaga spell. I bet it will make disc one a walk in the park.

I like the idea of costumes being DLC. Everything else should come with the game IMO.
