It also brought it's fair share of unique stuff to the table though. While it's certainly similar to PSO in some respects, it does a damn good job standing apart and I personally feel it's a better game. I've played both PSO (well, now I play psobb) and MH for a very long time now. Tried Phantasy Star Universe online version, DID NOT like that game. The weapon synth crap is horrible. Though I here the PSP version doesn't have it, the PC pretty much ruined it for me to the point I really don't want to even try. Anyhow, this God Eater game looks like such a blatant rip-off that, at the risk of sounding like a fanboy, it's offensive. It doesn't help I really hate this kind of look either. Monster Hunter added technical controls and ad-hoc PSP play, but it certainly wasn't the first loot collecting RPG on consoles.
