Konami Confirms Contra Rebirth For Europe, Announces Driift Mania

By Spencer . July 3, 2009 . 10:15am

imageAn official press release says Contra Rebirth will storm into Europe this August. The WiiWare game is starting with more buzz in Europe than it did in Japan where it was stealth announced less than a week before it was released.

News about Driift Mania was sandwiched between Gradius Rebirth and Contra Rebirth. The upcoming WiiWare title is a top down racing game for eight players with cartoon-style characters and twelve tracks. Since Konami didn’t release any screen shots you’ll have to use your imagination.

What makes Drift Mania stand out are its original modes such as: a roller derby-like VIP mode, a contamination mode where a contagious car has to contaminate other cars, and a meteorite mode where you race in a meteor shower. Driift Mania is slated to come out in Europe this July.

Is this “good news Friday”, or what?

Cool, means a US release is probably right around the corner too.

Next up Salamander ReBirth! I’d love to see Twinbee, Parodius, Castlevania, Goemon and Rocket Knight getting the same treatment from Konami & M2 eventually… hell, TMNT even if they can work a deal out with Ubi.
