Nippon Ichi Composing A Musical RPG For PSP

Like Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure? Princess Antiphona’s Hymn: Angel’s Score Op.A follows in its footsteps.

Both games have musical events and puppets. In Princess Antiphona puppets take care of chores and lack the ability to sign. In our world this wouldn’t be an issue, but music is power in Princess Antiphona’s world.

Tenpei Sato, the composer from the Marl Kingdom games, is working on the music for Princess Antiphona. The PSP game also has full voice acting, which could be an issue if NIS America decides to pick this up and wants to retain the original voice track.

Princess Antiphona’s Hymn is slated to come out in Japan this October.

  • *sigh*
Here's hoping it comes out on the DS too.
  • Nika
Lack the ability to 'sign' or to 'sing'?
  • Anon
I hope it actually relates to the Marl series directly.
  • Mazen
I want this to come in english just for the music, the music in the other Marl Kingdom games are amazing.
  • Safiel
Cool, sounds fun. Hopefully they'll bring over the other Marl Kingdom games at some point too.
  • That's basically what I'm thinking too. If this really is a true successor to Rhapsody then they've missed a couple of games in the franchise that need a DS or PSP or PSN release or something like that.
  • *Happy Sigh*

This stuff is what keeps that thing from gathering dust.
  • Hmm...
The creature/puppet sleeping on that girl's head reminds me of Ledgem, the God of Darkness in Rhapsody.
    ...hmm.
  • Keriaku
    I'm seriously excited for this!
  • Pichi
Interested in it. I like Rhapsody, so I'm happy there's more.
  • UFO
Hey, a game on the PSP that is not a port.
  • I hope it won't be another turn-based strategy RPG Nippon Ichi is famous for...
I think Disgaea games are great and all, but I just prefer normal jRPGs...
  • GG
    what are "normal" RPGs?
for example, the Final Fantasy games (except few ones) are turn based, but not tactical if that is what you mean as normal...
Or normal RPGs for you are the ones like from "Star Ocean" or "Tales of ..." ? (those are kinda action RPG, but I may be mistaken here)

    *I'm confused*

Turn-based RPGs used to be the most common or "normal" (FF I-X), but I guess action or strategy JRPGs are more commonplace in recent years, and turn-based has actually become rare (Lost Odyssey).

I too prefer the DS version of Rhapsody w/ turn-based gameplay instead of isometric viewed grid-based.
  • NIS should definitely stick to SRPGs, it is what they are good at. Gust can handle the regular ones.
  • If the bottom-left screenshots are any indication, then it seems that this new game will play more or less like Rhapsody did on the DS.
The original PS1 version of Rhapsody had your battles take place on a grid.
  • Yeah, that SS gives me hope :D
  • Ereek
Rhapsody was a "normal" JRPG. If this is a spiritual successor, then it's likely to be as well.
  • B.K.
The DS version was a normal RPG, but the original PSX version was a strategy game.
  • Nice. This was a surprise to read about. Leave it to Spencer =D
  • Eliel
so its kinda of a spiritual successor/sequalish to rhapsody A Musical Adventure
which sounds great to me i hope to c more media on this
