Final Fantasy Gaiden: The Four Light Warriors Trailer Shows Spiraling Towns

Final Fantasy Gaiden: The Four Light Warriors is supposed to be a throwback to the past with a simple system compared to today’s RPGs. Combat looks that way, but exploring the world does not. Towns in Final Fantasy Gaiden are like mini-mazes.

Am I the only one who hates runing through towns in RPGs? I'd rather just have a still screen where I can choose what I need quickly, rather than running all the way from the blacksmith to the vendor.
  • That's bad man. Towns and town music, when done right, can be the highlight of an RPG for me.

Agreed. Add in a camera that I can control and I'll be looking at every corner of it.

I dunt really like the graphic style in this one.. makes everything look too abstract or something

I actually kind of like the art-style. Most games SNES/PSX era, it seems like there can be a lot of difference between between concept/promo art and actual in-game graphics, whereas this looks more like how concept art for an RPG would look. In my opinion, anyways...
  • What denpanosekai said, towns for me can make or break a RPG. If they are charming little areas with interesting characters and things to find (DQVIII, Shining Force) then I'll likely love the game.

I wish I could be excited, but this team's track record is terrible. I have secret hope for this game, though. The overworld set my mind on fire.

What the hell are you talking about?
Matrix' past Final Fantasy games (FF III and FF IV) for the DS are great.

The video looks amazing, probably one of the pretiest DS games I have ever seen.
