image Two of video games greatest rivals will face off in bone-chilling bobsled races. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is slated to come out on the Nintendo DS and Wii on October 13.

In addition to bobsledding the game includes: alpine skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, and snowboard cross. The balance board works with some events like skiing and figure skating.

Oh, and Metal Sonic from Sonic CD traveled back in time just to make a special appearance as a playable character.

  • I enjoyed the first one a bit, so I’ll try this one too. I’m glad Metal Sonic and DK is here I’m hoping for Espio but something tells me he’ll ref again.

Down the line they do need a crossover platformer just because it’s something so obvious.

Seriously the first one was terrible. Poor motion controls, terrible mini-games, and just a downright slow as hell game. Couldn’t even play it for more than an hour.

Why dont they just make it Mario VS. Sonic? I know a lot of people are biased towards Smash, but its really fun to play, and it was really successful, financially. I would actually rather play a Mario V Sonic game over Brawl… Don’t think that will ever happen though.

    • I know I mentioned it here, but the rivalry between Sonic and Mario is mostly history. Kids these days don’t realize Mario and Sega were once bitter enemies and often the subject of many graphic GamePro envelop art submissions.

Now it seems like Mario and Sonic are best buds so I imagine a team up game where Mario and Sonic take on Bowser and Robotnik or something.

I played a ton of the first one back in college. It’s a great game for when you know you’ll have the opportunity to play it with others a lot.
