Irem’s PSP RPG Stars The Breakfast Club

So, if you haven’t heard Irem is making another PSP RPG. Narisokonai Eiyuuden: Taiyou to Tsuki no Monogatari (Narisokonai Epic: Tale of the Sun and Moon) comes out on July 23 with a “unique” buffet selection of heroes. You play Danish, a swordsman following is father’s footsteps, with Bread, Muffin, Croque, and Roll as party members.

image Silly English names aside (remember Vanilla Beans?), Narisokonai has some twists to differentiate it from a traditional RPG formula. In the middle of combat you can hear your team’s thoughts. They fly on the screen like YouTube or NicoNico comments. Similar to Persona and Luminous Arc, Danish can build relationships with his allies too. The stronger the bond, the stronger both characters are in battle.

Irem says Narisokonai has over 40 jobs, some of which are oddball classes like a chef that attacks with a frying pan and a math teacher.

We haven’t heard any rumblings of an international release, but I think Atlus will pick this game up and localize next year. Right now, Atlus has been the primary source of Irem games in North America and a niche RPG is right up their ally.

  • Cool. My interest is piqued. And I'm kind of hungry now, too...
  • lol @ Peter.

But it seems cool to try out so I'll keep my eye on it.
  • Chow
Yeah, I was looking at it, and wondered what Peter was supposed to be, in terms of food selection. My best guess would be Pita? Both terms would have the same syllabic spelling in Japanese, minus the elongated/extra "a" in the transphoneticization for Pita.
  • Good call! That makes perfect sense with the bakery names and all.
  • ReturnOfSomeDude
    No Pancake or Scone?
  • Tom
I have been interested in this since I saw pics from TGS last year. Hopefully Atlus will do me another solid and pick this up.
  • It's like they copy pasted the guy from Wild Arms 5 to this game.
  • I though the exact same thing. It has to be some sort of joke. I mean, that's uncanny.
  • maxchain
    Whoa whoa whoa whoa.

Luminous Arc had relationships? Oh PLEASE don't tell me they affected stats there, too.
  • Pichi
Yes, not sure about stats, but you do get some artwork CG from some of the relationships you raise you full. You also get items as well. Cecille is missable after a point, so keep that in mind if you're new.

    Seems possibly interesting.

But before I see any other PSP RPGs announced by Atlus USA, I'd really like to see Growlanser get announced.
