Capcom Executes Mega Man Battle Network Remake For DS

Remember the artwork for Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star? It’s not a crossover game. Capcom revealed the project today and it’s a Nintendo DS remake of Mega Man Battle Network.

Capcom’s “data action RPG” will have extra content not found in the original game. The concept art suggests Mega Man EXE and Mega Man Star Force will team up, but there’s a 200 year gap between their stories. We’ll have to wait for more information to Capcom to find out how that’s going to work.

Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star is slated to come out in Japan this winter.

Man, not only do they pound out these types of games, but then they’re remaking ones that are still playable on most DS’s? -_-

  • Hmm… I hope that ‘shop of Megan Man Legends 3 on the DS comes true someday.

    • I hope we’ll get a MML sequel someday, but unlike EXE and Star Force they can’t churn out yearly sequels so it was shelved :(

man, I hope they go back to the original battle system.

also it would be hilarious if they go back to the internet coloring scheme of the original, where everything looked exactly the same.

    • Somehow I think this will have the opposite, Star Force style battles with EXE characters. Just a guess, though!

I hope they update the graphics to at least BN6 (or beyond) because BN1 was kinda ugly lol… I’d like to see the original battle system, but we’ll see. ~_~

I really thought BN6 was one of the best in the series, and it was a shame a ton of post-game got cut-off because of Boktai. The cross system was a lot better than the soul system (damn 3 turn limit >:) and I was never to found of styles found in 2 and 3.

Hopefully one day, we can get a port of BN6 much like how they did BN5 on DS and actually give N/A and EU more post-game content. :< Bass cross again too. lol

Oops that was off topic, I can't wait for more info on this game.

    • The graphics should be getting an overhaul. Perhaps, with 3D models instead of sprites.

Fairly interesting. I have yet to play any of the star force games and stopped playing battle network games halfway through 4 while still having 5 unstarted. I have great memories of the first one when I first got my GBA. I loved how it mixed having a somewhat normal life into saving the world. Personally I’d like to see another Network Transmission game with styles and soul unisons thrown in the mix. 2D platforming and managing battle chips was a fun experience for me.

the only way this game will shine again for the DS is if they add wifi where you can battle your friends or anyone around the globe.

I really did like the first battle network game, so this is better than a crossover in my opinion. Now if they can improve certain dungeons and make the game feel more interactive.
