Good News! Your Old Save Data Works With The Disgaea 3 Trophy Patch

By Spencer . July 16, 2009 . 4:29pm

dis3Despite what NIS America said your old Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice save data will work with the newly released trophy patch.

After getting multiple tips about this I backed up my save file, downloaded the patch, and loaded my save data without any problems. I can confirm that trophies work too since I’m now the proud owner of a Jumptastic trophy.

Now, I wonder why NIS America released the statement, “since Disgaea 3 was developed without the trophy system, your saved data will not be usuable with this Trophy patch.” Everything appears to work fine.

Thanks to everyone who sent us a tip and was brave enough to risk their save data to test this!

Maybe there are (or they think there is a possibility of) bugs in the system and they're attempting to cover their ass. Good news though for anyone who this would have effected.

So you get all Trophys without a "NEW GAME" ?
In Uncharted and GTA 4 you have to start all over again to get the Trophys :/
  • I don't know about all trophies. I just got Jumptastic to test, but I got it by loading my old save data.

I went around and collected a good many of the Pirate and Item World trophies, so I'm going to assume they all work. That and there's no reason for them not to, seeing as how there are no story mode trophies.

    Good news! It's a suppository!.............Sorry.

I wonder why they said it wouldn't work in the first place.
  • But you're not Hubert J. Farnsworth.
  • I bet a Prinny working there said that.
  • Yea it worked here for me and several others tonight in IRC.

Which is nice because I have a feeling I can get the majority of them before the weekend is out.

Baal Pirates might be more trouble than 10 billion damage (hint: Yukimaru and Champloo, invincibility panels, counter-galore and fight it out).

Though I seriously doubt this theory, maybe NIS was somehow parodying Mao's lamentation about how his father destroyed his game save with the millions of hours racked up.

But my main theory is that they just simply didn't know what they were talking about.

I glad someone else noted the weird parallel. I suspected it was just the general new saves don't work with old versions warning they put up everytime, but some how mixed up. Thank you everyone who tried this out, I'm downloading the update right now (and already backed-up my save data... just in case)
  • One has to wonder if NISA has their head screwed on right these days. It's just seems to be one mistake after the next.
  • *Hugs hundreds of hours of game play* T_T rar, I thought I was going to lose you!

    Well, crap.
Anyone know a good way to Un-delete PS3 save data?
  • The only way I would probably attempt that seems logical is hooking it up the hard drive (2.5" SATA) to a comp, run something like GETDATABACK on it and see if it's possible to pull the data. Although I'm not entirely sure what you'd be looking for in terms of a save file...unless someone's made a better tool exclusively for the PS3.

But one has to wonder why in the world you would delete it anyways. :\
  • Saturnus
Why the hell would you delete your save?

    What a show of intelligence.
  • TheCleaningGuy
I heard I wasn't going to need it anymore :p. Regardless, it gives me a reason to play through the game again. Won't be that bad, only put about 20 hours into it anyway.

And a double post, more proof of my mental dominance.
