Here’s The Limited Edition SaGa DSi

By Spencer . July 22, 2009 . 10:11pm

Square Enix is rolling out the red carpet for SaGa 2 Hihou Densetsu: Goddess of Destiny with a limited edition Nintendo DSi bundle. If you thought, like me, this specially designed DSi would have a mascot character you thought wrong.

Instead of showing off the new art the SaGa 20th Anniversary Edition design commemorates the SaGa series with a list of all the games in the series up to SaGa 2: Goddess of Destiny.

Classy looking, but I would have preferred a Mr. S stamped DSi over this. The Nintendo DSi bundle costs 24,880 yen ($265) and it comes with a copy of SaGa 2 Hihou Densetsu: Goddess of Destiny.

    where’s Geese Howard?

That’s nice, I would buy that

  • Vino (Tim N)

Give me a colored limited editon DSi please!
I have way too many black handhelds. And already the matte blue DSi.

  • I’m curious about importing DSi’s in general. Has anyone done so yet? If you import a J-DSi are you locked out of the online stores here? I’d be fine if I could only get on one of the Japanese or US market stores (as long as it was easy either way). But if I can’t get on the US one, and due to where I’m located not be able to get on the Japanese one, I don’t want to import a DSi. It’s already a pain enough trying to get Japanese MSPoints for my J360.

    • I have a Japanese DSi and you only get access to the Japanese store. On the plus side you’ll get to play stuff like Dragon Quest Wars and a limited selection of quirky Japanese games. You can add more points with a US credit card so you don’t have to import point cards or anything.

The mystery pie in the sky question is what’s going to happen with DSi-enhanced games. Will those be region locked? Will Nintendo ever release DSi exclusive games that will be region locked, etc.

      • Thanks, Spencer. Now I know I can pick up a Japanese DSi when I see one that really interests me. I wonder if I can register the Japanese system on Club Nintendo’s US website. Guess I’ll test that part out when I finally get one. =)

I just got my Gyakuten Kenji (Blue badger / taiho-kun) DSi recently. I was having the same questions as you and did lots of research before finally importing it. But I haven’t opened the system yet because I’m still waiting for the screen protectors in the mail :(

Like Spence said, DSiWare is region locked, but good thing is you can buy points directly w/ a US credit card, instead of requiring a Jpn credit card or needing to hunt down a prepaid point card (I still have an unused 360 Idolmaster 3500 MS point card).

Keep in mind the system menu is Japanese only unlike the Phat/Lite where you could flip to English. So you’re pretty much stuck to Jpn only other than regular DS games.

Another factor for me was I didn’t like the US colors, the ugly blue or black (have Graphite black and onyx Lite). So I chose the white DSi w/ the embarrassing yet adorable blue badger logo on it :) I can’t wait to test the system and use the bigger screen!

      • Thanks for the response Aoshi00. Seems we always find eachother when it involves importing. I won’t mind the system menu in Japanese. Shouldn’t be that difficult to read or use. I’ll wait for something I really want as I already have a DS Lite, but at least now I know I can definitely purchase a DSi and feel safe about it. =) Kudos folks!
PS: Looking to sell those points? =P I could probably use some.

No prob. I actually didn’t have a good reason to get a DSi so soon either since my Lite works fine, but I found a deal I can’t refuse and I wanted to play Gyakuten Kenji anyway (it’s great, feels like a main game and better than Apollo because we’re so familiar w/ Edgeworth). Also after reading some reviews on the system I thought it should be worth owning. Otherwise I would’ve wanted the dark blue or maybe wait for some other cooler LEs (not interested in Kingdom Hearts).

I got two 3,500 point cards before and only redeemed one, the other pack is sealed. Bought it for $60, seems to be quite rare now since it’s of Idolmaster design. I’m not sure if I want to sell it, just don’t seem to find much use for it for the moment. If you just want the code and not the physical card, I might sell it to you for cheaper. Shoot me an e-mail if you’re interested ([email protected])

Interesting that “UNLIMITED: Saga”‘s title has now been retconned into “Unlimited: SaGa”. You just have to have the capital “G”, afterall…

Hey, where the SaGa 1 WSC remake? :/
