Katamari Forever Demo Rolls On To PlayStation Network

Dying to play a Katamari game on the PS3? Then fire up your Japanese PSN account! Namco Bandai put a demo of Katamari Forever there.

The demo has a remixed level from a previous Katamari game and a brand new stage where you vegetate a desert with a water soaked Katamari. While the demo is far from the complete Katamari Forever experience, it should tide fans over until Namco Bandai releases Katamari Forever’s domestic release on September 23. Katamari Tribute is out in Japan today.

How do I get a Japanese and EU PSN account? Does it matter that I’m already signed up for an U.S.A. PSN account? Thanks!

All you have to do is create a new local user on your PS3, then associate that user with a new PSN account (which would require you to use a different e-mail than your regular one). Just make sure you select your coundtry as Japan, then go through the registration process. If you can’t figure it out because it’s all in Japanese after a certain point, try looking for a tutorial at Youtube (for example).

I played around with the demo for about 15 mins, and something seems to be off with the controls – some subtle input difference or something, but it doesn’t feel like the first PS2 iteration. Maybe it’s just me.
