Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Sneaks Into North America First

Tecmo will release Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 in North America a few days before the game debuts in Japan. Ryu and now Ayane, Momiji, and Rachel’s visceral action game slices into stores on September 29.

A Gamestop exclusive Collector’s Edition will go on sale and it contains most of the items found in the Japan’s Collector’s Edition. For $69.99 you get Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, a mini-strategy guide, art gallery, and commentary from the lead artists and Team Ninja Producer Yosuke Hayashi.

A vanilla game costs $59.99. Pre-order the game or the Collector’s Edition and you get a downloadable costume as a bonus.

Here’s a look at the prologue comic, which is a printed version of the in game digital comic.

I don’t like the sound effect being translated to English :(…

    • QBasic

      Dude…kinda hard to read them otherwise… >_>;;

      • Aoshi00

I know, but most Eng. translated manga make a point of leaving the sound effects and having them as footnotes now since they are part of the comic art and would be best not to be tempered w/. Even in some Dragon Ball or Naruto games they would leave the sound effect in Jpn on screen.

        • I agree. I usually buy the Japanese versions of manga and try to translate or read a translation and follow along to improve (practice) myself anyway but I’ve noticed Dark Horse had started to even go further to not ruin the page by moving the footnotes to the end of the book. A personal note: “KOFF” doesn’t look bad at all as it looks just like the comics but that “WSHT” looks like a bad photoshop job. =( Not a terrible thing and I would prefer both versions in the end to make everyone happy.

          • Aoshi00

Yeah, I hope not all sound effects look as bad as “WSHT”, which was what caught my attention too.

I get manga in Jpn since I can read it, plus it’s cheaper, though the price keeps going up at the exchange rate now, like $6.50 + 8.5% tax per tankoubon in NY’s Kinokuniya. I’m reading Watsuki’s Frankenstein manga “Enbalming” now.

Actually looking forward to this. I didn’t really like the 360 version… Everything was way too dark. I’m sure they will fix it with this PS3 version, just like they did the original with Sigma.

  • TurkeyPotPie

Ugh. I hate these retailer specific exclusives, especially the ones at Gamestop. I’m just going to wait for Sigma 2 to hit the bargain bin like the first one before picking it up.

    • Aoshi00

That’s true.. sometimes when you look back the knick knacks just aren’t worth the premium. I got NG2 on sale for $9.99 from Best Buy one week, still think it’s the sweetest deal ever.

  • QBasic

Hm. This is one collector’s edition I could live without…

Think I’ll just wait for a Greatest Hits version of Sigma 2 like I did with the first one.

  • Saturnus

Ha, comes out on my birthday! Not sure I’ll be asking for it though, don’t think it’s quiet worth the premium price (I found the first on sale for only $20).

In Europe we get it even earlier, on the 18th of September which is nice to know. It’s kind of good that Bayonetta got pushed to more breathing space for another hack n’ slash for us to enjoy in the mean time.
