The King of Fighters XII is in some households and early reports claim online play has been less than stellar. Ignition is stepping in to intervene with a patch, which is available for the PlayStation 3 version now.

Over at the Ignition boards a user explains the PS3 patch forces installation, records players you met online, and maybe tweaks the netcode.

A patch is planned for the Xbox 360 version too. While the update is not available Ignition “expect[s] it to be released very soon.”

i heard the ps3 “patch” was around 800mb. kinda ridiculous if it really is.

  • xemnas

lol so for blazblue the ps3 owners had to wait for the patch..but for Kof its the reverse?

778 MB, it was available as soon as I got home yesterday… and I can state for a fact that it did NOT fix the lag problem in online play. It’s pretty unbearable.

I played this a bit yesterday and was heavily disappointed, even more than I was in SFIV. In fact, at this point, I almost regret even opening the game instead of just returning it to get my money back. Really disappointing, but I guess it’s back to BB for me…

So my bro Drew already got his hands on this game… So, I can honestly say, from the bottom of my heart…this game fucking sucks. :<

    *goes back to BlazBlue*

The game just comes out and there’s an 800MB patch that does absolutely nothing. Is debugging an afterthought nowdays? I think it’s just because devs can release now and patch later with the new consoles. In the jurassic days of computers, once you burned your code on roms or whatever, it was set in stone and if you wanted to change it you had to cough up lots of cash so people had to debug their code properly. But now? It seems like coders think debugging their games is below them.

I believe this KOF title is for the most hardcore KOF fans. If you love the series and can’t get enough of the characters, XII is fluid and fun. However, the mode selection and extras make it dull to casual fighting fans.

Blazblue is better, but it’s a nice break from the craziness that is BB. Hopefully, KOF XII will be redeemed with DLC. Character DLC.

    • Hraesvelgr

Stage DLC would be nice, too. Unless they make you pay for it, then I would never touch an SNK game ever again.

      • QBasic

Oh, it’d be criminal of them not to charge it.

Even in a $5 bargain bin, KOF XII isn’t gonna rear it’s ugly ass in my humble abode. :<

    • QBasic

I humbly disagree. I’m not quite hardcore, but I’m a relatively heavy KOF player. Yet I find fans such as myself, and especially ones more hardcore than I the ones to be most hurt by this faggotry on SNK’s part.
