Final Fantasy Gaiden: The Four Light Warriors Shines In October

By Spencer . July 30, 2009 . 12:05am

image Square Enix’s newest branch on the Final Fantasy tree, The Four Warriors of Light, will come out in Japan on October 29.

The game will retail for 5,980 yen ($62), the same price as DS games based on established franchises like Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy IV.

Speaking of Final Fantasy IV, staff that worked on the Final Fantasy III and IV remakes are working on Final Fantasy Gaiden: The Four Light Warriors. As of now Square Enix has not announced any plans to release The Four Light Warriors outside of Japan, but an international release seems likely.

Reminds me of 7th Dragon mixed with FF3/4 DS. I’m really liking the style…

Do you think they will scrap ever doing a FF5 remake how they did 3 and 4? It seems that they are going in that direction. I was hoping for a FF5 DS though!

Man, DS is going to be loaded next year. SaGa2, Blood of Bahamut, FF Gaiden, DQIX… and that’s just Square Enix!

4 Warriors of Light feels more like Final Fantasy than any of the XIII games. They should rename it Final Fantasy XIII and make the XIII games the Gaidens.

Amen. Without a shred of sarcasm, I agree. Well… I’d agree more if it were developed in-house, god damn it…

But the core FF series is well known for constantly evolving and pushing the genre into new and different things. XIII is exactly what it should be. This is meant to be something of an homage to the “old school” feel of the series which would have been too far of a step backwards to call XIII or as a number of the core series.
